Anderson, John (1863 - 8 FEB 1955)
John Anderson, 91 years of age, passed away Feb. 8, 1955 at the Podvin Rest Home in Stanley, following a lingering illness. He was born near Oslo, Norway, in the year 1863, and came to America in 1884, settling in Lafayette County, living there for 28 years. He then moved to the town of Worden, Clark Co. (Wis.), and lived there for five years, after which he moved to Stanley where he had since resided.
On Oct. 9, 1886, he was married to Augusta Gilbertson at Argyle, Wis. To this union was born seven sons and three daughters. His wife and son Milo preceded him in death.
Surviving are Oscar, Charles, Elmer, Gilman and Julian, all of Stanley; Marshall of Chicago, Mrs. Alfred Arneson (Roselia), Mrs. Herman Arneson (Laura) and Mrs. Harry Witt (Norma), all of Stanley.; 38 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held on Friday at 2:00 p.m. from Our Savior’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Salveson officiating. Pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased. Interment was at the Evergreen Cemetery.
