Novak, Robert (6 MAR 1955)
A Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) youth was among 22 who escaped injury when an Air Force plane crash landed at the Clinton, Iowa Municipal Airport.
He was Robert Novak. All were from the University of Wisconsin.
The plane’s pilot said a defective fuel line caused trouble as the plane neared Clinton and that a strong wind prevented a routine landing. As the plane approached the airport, it hit a bunker in a corner of the field.
The plane was bound for Truax Field near Madison, Wis. It had taken off from Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma City, Okla.
