Djubenski, Mary Bernice (19 July 1915 - 8 December 2009) 
 

Mary Djubenski, 94, of Willard died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009, at the Miller Alternative Care Facility in Thorp. 
 

Mary Bernice Snedic was born July 19, 1915, in Willard, the daughter of John and Mary (Krnicar) Snedic.  She attended the North Hendren Grade School in Willard.  When she completed her education she continued helping on the family farm.  Mary moved to Chicago, IL, for a short time to work but then returned when her father became ill to help care for him and the farm.  She was united in marriage to Michael Plautz June 27, 1942, at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard.  Michael was killed in a construction accident July 2, 1949.  Mary was later united in marriage to Roger Djubenski July 26, 1952, at the Holy Family Catholic Church.  During her married years, Mary worked as a homemaker caring for her family, and she also continued to help on the family farm. 
 

Mary was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard.  She was a member of the PCCW and a longtime treasurer of the Slovenian Women’s Union.  She loved gardening and tending her flowers.  She possessed artistic talent and loved to recite poetry and read, a gift she passed on to her children. 
 

She is survived by four children, Michael (Gloria) Plautz of Minneapolis, MN, Patrick (Kay) Plautz of Eagan, MN, Eugene (Sharon) Djubenski of Greenwood and Mary Jo (Randy) Fox of Willard; six grandchildren, Andrea, Josh, Jesse, Daniel, Tracy and Yancey; and one great-grandchild, Zoe.  Mary is also survived by two sisters, Josephine (Bill) Valenzuela of San Diego, CA, and Angie Zeug of Superior. 
 

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Michael Plautz and Roger Djubenski; two brothers, John and Paul Snedic; and a sister, Ann. 
 

The Mass of Christian Burial for Mary was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009, at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard.  The celebrant was Fr. Joseph Follmar.  Music was provided by the Slovenian Choir. Visitation  was from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday with an 8 p.m. Rosary Service at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard.  Visitation was also from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.  Interment was in the Holy Family Catholic Cemetery. 
 

Casketbearers were: Danny Djubenski, Tom Djubenski, Yancey Fox, Andrea Plautz, Josh Plautz and Angie Ziegler.
