Schwantes, Richard C. (1955)
Richard C. Schwantes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald
A. Schwantes of Neillsville, was scheduled to arrive April 15 at
Norfolk, Va., on the battleship Iowa after a three-month cruise n
the Mediterranean. Richard had opportunity to see Oran,
Algeria; Athens, Greece; Naples and Genoa, Italy; Istanbul, Turkey;
and Cannes, France. His ship participated in several NATO
exercises with ships of the Greek, Turkish and British
Navies.
