Morgan, Jeanette M. (17 August 1921 - 26 December
2009)
Jeanette M. Morgan, age 88, of Thorp, died of
natural causes on Saturday, December 26, 2009 at Our Lady of
Victory Hospital, in Stanley, WI. She was born on August 17,
1921 in Augusta, WI, the daughter of Julius and Amanda (Bethke)
Zank. She grew up in the area and graduated from Augusta High
School in 1939. Jeanette married Julius Morgan on November
23, 1949 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in
Augusta.
She
was a highly respected high school educator at several local high
schools including: Ladysmith, Gilman, Stanley and Thorp. She
retired in 1983 after 33 years of teaching. In addition, as a
result of a family tragedy in December of 1968, she raised 10
children on her own.
Jeanette enjoyed raising her children, playing
bridge, completing crossword puzzles and walking. She was an active
member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig’s parish, the Wisconsin
Education Association, the Thorp American Legion Auxiliary,
was a charter member of the Thorp Lioness Club, and served on the
Morgan Plaza Board.
She
is survived by her children: Ken (Judi) Morgan of Spokane, WA; Dave
(Sue) Morgan of West Bend, WI; Richard Morgan of Nekoosa, WI; Joan
(Wayne) Eloranta of Owen, WI; Mark (Hong) Morgan of Portage, WI;
Thomas Morgan of Thorp, WI; Carol (Scott) MacLean of Asheville, NC;
Jean Culberson of Mount Horeb, WI; Janet (Eric) Morgan-Rosen of
Prince George, British Columbia, Canada; and James (Kelly) Morgan
of Hudson, WI; eighteen grandchildren; and three
great-grandchildren.
Jeanette is preceded in death by her parents; her
husband Julius; her brothers: Earl, Alton, and Owen Zank; and her
sister, Lorraine Crandall.
Memorial donations may be directed to the Thorp
Public Library, 401 South Conway Street, Thorp, WI, 54771 in
Jeanette’s memory.
Thorp Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
