Kurth, Pauline (14 October 1870 - 5 June
1955)
Mrs. Robert Kurth, 84, of 112 W. 10th
Street, Neillsville, died Sunday, June 5, 1955, at her home from
old age complications.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, June
8, 1955, at 10:00 a.m. from St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran
Church. The Rev. Alfred Schewe, pastor of the church,
officiated. Interment took place in the Neillsville City
Cemetery.
Mrs. Kurth was born October 14, 1870, at La
Crosse, Wis., to Ernest and Amelia (Schadeck) Hantke. She had
been a resident of Clark County most of her life. She moved to the
Town of Grant when she was a small child. Her parents located
on a farm near Granton. She received her education in the
Fischer German Lutheran Parochial School near Granton.
Following the completion of her schooling, she returned to La
Crosse, where she worked until her marriage to Robert Kurth on
February 25, 1893, at Granton. They lived on a farm until
1910 at which time they moved to Neillsville, where she had resided
since.
Mrs. Kurth is survived by four children: Louis
(Frosty) Kurth, Neillsville; Miss Hilda Kurth, Neillsville; Mrs.
Kenneth (Leona) Bertrand, Washington, D. C.; Mrs. Herbert (Dorothy)
Smith of Neillsville; one brother, Oscar Hantke, Ironwood, Mich.;
one sister, Mrs. E. M. (Minnie) Krueger, of Milwaukee; three
grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Two
sons, three brothers, two sisters and her parents preceded her in
death.
The
body reposed at the Bergemann Funeral Home until Wednesday, when it
was taken to the church.

Funeral services for Mrs. Robert Kurth, age 84,
which died early Sunday morning at her home on W. 10th
St., were held Wednesday, June 8, 1955, at 10 a.m. from St.
John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Rev. Alfred
Schewe officiated; interment was in the Neillsville City
Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Ruben Hantke, Tony Hantke,
Walter Klapper, Ernest Kuechenmeister, Alfred Magnuson and Eugene
Short.
Out of town relatives attending were: Mrs. Kenneth Bertrand, Washington D. C.; Mrs. E. M. Krueger, Milwaukee; Oscar Hantke, Ironwood, Mich.; Mrs. Paul Moeller, ST. Charles, Minn.; Mrs. Steve Uhler, La Crosse; Mrs. Minnie Hoeth, La Crosse; Alfred Shadach, Reseburg, Wis.; Miss Marion Hantke, St. Paul; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Shadach, Mrs. Ida Shadach, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Degendesch, and Mrs. Anna Peters, all of La Crosse; Mrs. Erland Quinn, Cumberland; Mrs. Ira Slocumb, and Dan Hughes of Menomonie; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Klapper, Green Bay, Mr. and Mrs. Ruben Hantke, Pauline Hantke, Miss Elsie Wolf, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Grassman, James Hughes, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Short, Ernest Kuechenmeister, Mrs. Walter Moldenhauer and Mrs. Paul Goebel, all of Granton.
