Djubenski, Mary  (19 JULY 1915-08 DEC 2009)

 

Mary B. Djubenski, 94, died on Tuesday, Dec, 8, 2009, at the Miller Alternative Care Facility, Thorp. The Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, Dec. 15, at Holy Family Catholic Church. Willard. The celebrant was the Rev. Joseph Follmar. Music was provided by the Slovenian Choir. Interment was in the Holy Family Cemetery. Casket bearers were Danny Djubenski. Tom Djubenski, Yancy Fox, Andrea Plautz, Josh Plautz and Angie Ziegler.

 

Mary Bernice Snedic was born on July 19, 1915, in Willard, to John and Mary (nee Krnicar) Snedic. She attended the North Hendren Grade School, Willard. When she completed her education, she continued helping on the family farm. She moved to Chicago for a short time to work, but then returned when her father became ill, to help care for him and the farm. She married Michael Plautz on June 27, 1942, at the Holy Family Catholic Church, Willard. He was killed in a construction accident on July 2, 1949. She later married Roger Djubenski on July 26, 1952, at the Holy Family Catholic Church. During her married years, she worked as a homemaker caring for her family and she continued to help on the family farm.

 

She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, Willard. She was a member of the PCCW and a long time treasurer of the Slovenian Women’s Union. She loved gardening and tending to her flowers. She possessed artistic talent and loved to recite poetry and read, a gift she passed on to her children.

 

Survivors include four children, Michael (Gloria) Plautz, Minneapolis, Patrick (Kay) Plautz, Eagan, Minn., Eugene (Sharon) Djubenski, Greenwood, and Mary Jo (Randy) Fox, Willard; six grandchildren, Andrea, Josh, Jesse, Daniel, Tracy and Yancy; one great-grandchild, Zoe; two sisters, Josephine (Bill) Valenzuela, San Diego, and Angie Zueg, Superior.

 

Preceding her in death were her husbands, Michael Plautz and Roger Djubenski; two brothers, John Snedic ND Paul Snedic; and a sister, Ann.
