MONTROSE,
Colo. -- William "Bill" James Allen, 63, of Montrose, Colo., died
Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, at his home in Montrose, from complications
of lung cancer.
A memorial
service will be held in the spring, and his ashes will be scattered
on his ranch in Colorado.
Bill was
born Dec. 1, 1945, in Owen to Richard and Elsie (Prihoda) Allen. He
graduated from Owen-Withee High School in 1964 and then from the
Wausau Technical Institute.
Bill moved
to Colorado and worked for the Dover Elevator Company in Denver. He
subsequently started his own elevator company, Mesa Elevator
Company, in Grand Junction and later in Montrose. In 1982, Bill
married Karen Nelson in Des Moines, Iowa. They were later
divorced.
Survivors
include a brother, Richard Allen of Rochester, Minn.; and two
sisters, Charlene Shukala of Phillips, and Paulette Dunster of
Hayward. He is also survived by his good friends and neighbors,
Douglas and Margaret Graff.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary Knoll and Barbara Nelson; and brother, Thomas Allen.
