OWEN -- Helen Mary Steffen, 91, died Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, at Advocate Good Shepard Hospital in Barrington, Ill. 
 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 4, 2010, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Owen. A Rosary prayer will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the church, followed by a viewing in back of church from 10 a.m. until service time. 
 

Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Greenwood immediately following the service. 
 

Helen was born March 12, 1918, in Lebanon, S.D., the daughter of Frank and Katie (Hericks) Hemmersbach. Helen and her husband, Edward, had resided in Waukegan, Ill., until 1977 and in Withee from 1977 to 1999. Edward preceded her in death in 1979. 
 

Survivors include her children, Robert (Karen), Patricia (Gordon) Holzinger and Garry (Debra); seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Angela (Martin) Merlak of Wonder Lake, Ill., and Frieda Thorson of Greenwood.
