William J.
Guenther, 88, of Willard died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, at Saint
Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield. Funeral services will be at 11
a.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, at Holy Family Catholic Church in
Willard. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until
time of services Saturday.
Cuddie
Funeral Home of Greenwood is assisting the family with
arrangements.

William J.
"Bill" Guenther, 88, of Willard, formerly of Aurora, Ill., died
Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, at Saint Joseph's Hospital in
Marshfield.
Funeral
services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, at Holy Family
Catholic Church, in Willard, with the Rev. Joseph Follmar
officiating. Pallbearers will be Bob Sibilski, Joe Tolaney, Edward
"Bing" Perko, Bernard Artac, Robert Trunkel and Jacob Trunkel.
Military rites will be conducted by the Greenwood American Legion
Post No. 238.
Family will
greet relatives and friends at the church from 10 a.m. until time
of the service Saturday. Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m.
Monday, Jan. 4, 2010, in the chapel in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery
in Aurora, Ill.
William
Judson Guenther was born Jan. 29, 1921, in Sandwich, Ill., the son
of Walter and Ruby (Rogers) Guenther. He was raised in the Plano
and Sandwich area until his family moved to Aurora when he was 12
years old. Bill graduated from Aurora West High School in 1939, and
then went to work at Richards Wilcox until being inducted into the
U.S. Army on Aug. 26, 1942. He served his country proudly for three
years in the South Pacific Theater, earning four Bronze Battle
Stars. Bill was united in marriage to Margaret Bamford. They later
divorced. After his honorable discharge Oct. 19, 1945, he went back
to work at Richards Wilcox in Aurora, Ill. He was united in
marriage to Virginia M. Klaren on Oct. 15, 1947. in Aurora, Ill.
Bill retired from Richards Wilcox, in 1987, after 48 years of
employment. His wife, Virginia, passed away on Nov. 6, 1998. During
his retirement, he enjoyed gardening and fishing. Bill was united
in marriage on Oct. 2, 2003, to Joan Imre at Holy Family Catholic
Church, in Willard. They resided in Willard until the time of his
death.
Bill was a
loving husband, good father and a doting grandfather. He will be
missed by all, especially by his much-loved grandson
Jason.
He was a
member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard and a member of
the Greenwood American Legion Post No. 238 in Greenwood.
Bill is
survived by his loving and caring wife, Joan Guenther, of Willard;
four children: William (Diane) Guenther Jr. of Woy Woy, NSW,
Australia, John (Lori) Guenther of Herndon, Va., Clarice Guenther
of Montgomery, Ill., Jeff (Sharon) Guenther of Oswego, Ill.; a
stepdaughter, Susan (Arpad) Eiler of Waupaca; four grandchildren,
six great-grandchildren, 11 nieces and nephews and many
friends.
Bill was
preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 50 years,
Virginia M. Guenther; and sister and brother in-law Marsha (Junior)
Murphy.
The family
would like to express their sincere gratitude to all the wonderful
doctors and caregivers at Saint Joseph's Hospital in
Marshfield.
