Huntley, Mertie (16 August 1879 - 11 July 1955) 
 

Funeral services will be held today (Thursday) for Mrs. William (Mertie) Huntley, 75, who died Monday, July 11.  Mrs. Huntley was a resident of Baraboo and formerly resided in Neillsville.  The services will be conducted by members of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, led by their reader, Mrs. Albert Sollberger.  Interment will be made in the Neillsville City Cemetery. 
 

Mrs. Huntley was born August 16, 1879, at Tunnel City, to George and Evelyn Beardsley.  Her marriage to William A. Huntley took place on June 9, 1909, in Neillsville.  He died in 1949.  The Huntley family left Neillsville in 1943 for Prairie du Sac, where they resided until his death.  She was active in the writer’s group and had several "honorable mentions" on poems that she had published. 
 

Mrs. Huntley was a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Carmi Chapter, No. 60, and the Sauk County Rural Writers’ group. 
 

Surviving her is one daughter, Mrs. L. M. (Jane) Ramsey of Barstow, Cal., who was with her mother at the time of her death; three sisters - Mrs. Millard (Ida) Parker, Grand Rapids, Mich., Mrs. Carrie Neverman, Neillsville, and Mrs. R. B. (Mae) Cornell, Fresno Cal.; and a brother, Bert Beardsley of Marysville, Mich.

Funeral services for Mrs. William (Mertie Beardsley) Huntley, 75, were held last Thursday from the Georgas Funeral Home, Interment was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.  Mrs. Albert Sollberger, Christian Science Reader, conducted the services. 
 

Pallbearers were: O. W. Schoengarth, J. A. Zimmerman, Kurt Listeman, Wm. L. Smith, E. H. Snyder and Wm. A. Campman. 
 

Those from out of town attending the rites included: Mrs. l. M. Ramsey, Barstow, Cal.; Mrs. R. B. Cornell, Fresno, Cal.; Harry L. Halsted, Mrs. Mabel Jonkel, Mrs. Carrie Gibson, Mrs. Helen Potter, Mrs. Lila Johnson, Mrs. Lucy Headley, Mrs. Esther M. Mattison, Mrs. Adair Meeks, Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Price, Erle Faber, all of Baraboo; Mrs. Lottie Schaller, Mrs. Bert Fuller, Grace E. Henry, B. J. Fuller, all of Tomah; John W. Schaller, Chippewa Falls; Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Lauer, Jr, Winona, Minn.; Mrs. Ella Huntley, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Arndt, Thorp.
