Grottke, Darrell Ernest (22 September 1931 - 8
July 1955)
Word was received in Neillsville late Friday
afternoon of the death of Darrell Earnest Grottke, age 23, of
Milwaukee. He died at South View Hospital at Milwaukee where
he was taken after becoming ill with bulbar
polio.
Funeral services were being held Tuesday in
Milwaukee, with burial taking place there.
Darrell was born September 22, 1931, at
Neillsville. Many will remember him as a young boy when his
parents operated the Neillsville Dairy. He as a veteran of the
Korean war and was employed as a painter in Milwaukee. His
marriage to Darlene Smith took place December 31, 1954, at
Milwaukee. He became ill last week while working on new home
the family was building.
He
is survived by his wife, his father, Walter Grottke of Neillsville,
his mother, Mrs. Joe Jondek of Milwaukee; a foster son, Gregory; a
sister, Mrs. Thomas (Gloria) Cummisford, and a half sister, Vicky
Sue.
Mr.
and Mrs. Walter Grottke of Neillsville and Mrs. Fala Gloff and
daughter of Marshfield attended funeral services.
Mr. Grottke’s son, Gregory, was taken Friday to the hospital suffering with measles and polio. No word of his condition has been received.
