Holt, Shirley (Marriage - 13 August
1955)
The
Methodist Chruch of Neillsville was the scene Saturday of the
wedding of Miss Shirley Holt and Robert Zager. The Rev.
Virgil Holmes performed the double ring ceremony at 2 p.m. before
an altar decorated with baskets of cut flowers. Parents of
the young couple are Mr. and Mrs. Albert Holt of 1101 Hewett
Street, Neillsville, and Mr. and Mrs. Peter Zager of
Willard.
The
bride’s white floor-length gown was fashioned with a lace and
tucked net bodice, which extended in points into a net-over satin
skirt. A Peter Pan collar framed the neckline of he
dress. The long pointed sleeves came to a point at the wrists
and her finger-tip veil extended from a lace coronet trimmed with
mock orange blossoms. She carried a fan-shaped bouquet of white
stephanotis and pink sweetheart roses.
Mrs. Jerry Johnson was her sisters honor
attendant. Another sister, Nancy Holt, was her
bridesmaid. They wore identical dresses in pink and blue,
fashioned after that of the bride. A short bolero jacket and
matching pixies of net, trimmed in seed pearls, completed the
attendants’ ensembles. They both carried fan-shaped
bouquets of pink baby rose buds and pink roses.
Jerry Johnson, brother-in-law of the bride,
served as best man. Marvin Marg was groomsman, while Robert
Holt ushered.
Soloist Mary Ann Heuer sang "I Love Your Truly"
and "Because," accompanied by Gail Maus.
A
reception for 156 guests was held at the V.F.W. Hall, which was
decorated with floral bouquets and streamers in pink, white and
blue.
On
their return August 21 from a wedding trip through Canada, the
young couple will be at home at 523 Hewett
Street.
The
bride is a 1954 graduate of Neillsville High School and is employed
in Neillsville. The groom is a graduate of Greenwood High
School with the class of 1953 and also is employed in
Neillsville.
Relatives from Cambria, Greenwood, Marshfield, Rice Lake, Willard, Loyal, Granton, Wisconsin Rapids, Colby Abbotsford, and Augusta attended the wedding.
