Valk, Francis A. (21 AUG 1899 - 9 JUN 1955)

 

Francis Antone Valk of Stanley passed away at his home there at 1:10 o’clock this morning, following a lingering disease.

 

The deceased was born at Wrightstown, Wis., on Aug. 21, 1899, and came to the Stanley community with his parents as a youngster.  With the exception of ten years when he was employed at Fond du Lac, Wis., he had lived all his life in Stanley.

 

On Sept. 12, 1922, he was married to Katherine Heiting at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Stanley.

 

Surviving are his wife, five sons, Donald of Rochester, Alvin of Milwaukee, and Edward, Robert and Gerald at home; five daughters, Mrs. Leonard (Beatrice) Haas of Thorp, Mrs. Adam (Eleanor) Michur of Withee, Mrs. John (Carol) Sopiarz of Waterloo, Iowa, Mrs. Charles (Lavonne) Truse of Milwaukee, and Miss Mary Margaret Valk at home; his mother, Mrs. Joseph Wald of Klamath Falls, Oregon; one brother, Bernard Valk, also of Klamath falls; two sisters, Mrs. Emil Samplawski of Gilman and Mrs. Adolph Samplawski of Klamath Falls, Oregon; and fourteen grandchildren.

 

The body lies in state at the Plombon Funeral Home in Stanley.  The Rosary will be recited at 8:00 Thursday night at the Funeral Home.  Services will be held at St. Ann’s Catholic Church at 9:30 o’clock Friday morning, with Rev. Edmund Cramer officiating.  Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
