Helen E. Ouimette, 85, of Manitowoc died
Friday, Dec. 18, 2009, at North Ridge Medical & Rehabilitation
Center, Manitowoc.
Helen was born March 6, 1924, in
Manitowoc, daughter of the late Arthur and Lorraine (Halderson)
Krueger. Helen attended schools in Manitowoc and graduated
from Lincoln High School. She then attended Marquette University
for four years and then Eau Claire University where she received
her master’s degree. Helen married George M. Ouimette
June 3, 1948, in Kenosha. Helen was a nurse for 35 years and
also taught at the Marshfield School of Nursing for three
years. Helen was a past president of the Regional Writers of
Wisconsin and also wrote articles for the St. Paul Pioneer
Press. She enjoyed reading and writing.
Survivors include her husband, George M.
Ouimette, Manitowoc; seven children, Lorraine (Walter) Evans,
Glendale, Jean Ouimette, Merrill, George Ouimette and his wife
Diane Slivka, Forestville, Nannette Ouimette and her special
friend, Ian, Blackburn, England, Jared (Margaret) Ouimette,
Neillsville, Rene Ouimette, Hazelhurst, and Larry Ouimette and his
wife Melissa Smith, Minocqua; 10 grandchildren; one brother and
sister-in-law, Stanley (Fumiko) Krueger, Baton Rouge, LA; two
brothers-in-law and five sisters-in-law; and nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends.
Helen was preceded in death by her
parents and three brothers-in-law.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m.
Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, at the Jens Family Funeral Home &
Crematory, Manitowoc, with visitation from 10 a.m. until time of
service. Reverend Roald Harswick officiated. Burial
followed at Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her name.
