November 1955)
George Sylvester Owens died at Jefferson
hospital November 15, 1955, age 87 years. A stroke was the
cause of death.
He was born in Richland County, 1868, and
was married to Rachel Alderman of Richland County in 1894.
Born to this union were five daughters. One daughter Mary
died at the age of 14. His wife died 27 years ago.
Mr. Owens was a farmer all his life, was
a resident of Clark County for many years. He was a brother
of the late Harry Owens of Granton.
He leaves four daughters: Mrs. Herbert
Kauth, Milwaukee; Mrs. Della Russell, Lynxville, Wis.; Mrs. Edith
Groskreutz, and Mrs. William Clark, Fort Atkinson; one brother,
Fred Owens, Richland Center; two sisters, Mrs. Ada Ewers, Richland
Center, and Mrs. Esther Black, Des Moines, Ia.; a sister-in-law,
Mrs. Ethel Owens, and her son, Clyde of Neillsville, and many
nieces and nephews. He had 11 grandchildren and 22
great-grandchildren.
He was interred in Jefferson, Wis.
