Thoma, Susie (13 May 1881 - 9 December 1955) 
 

Mrs. Susie Thoma, age 74, of 612 W. 5^th Street Neillsville, died Friday afternoon at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Ayers. 
 

Funeral services, in charge of the Georgas Funeral Home, were conducted Monday afternoon by the First Church of Christ, Scientist and Carmi Chapter No. 60 O. E. S.  Interment was in the Neillsville City Cemetery. 
 

Mrs. Thoma, who spent most of her life in Clark County, was a retired clerk.  She was born May 13, 1881, in Ozaukee County to Herman and Mary (Sigrand) Korman.  When she was only 6 weeks old the family moved to Neillsville.  Her father originated the Neillsville Wagon Shop which in later years became known as the Korman and Ghent Wagon Shop.  This is the building now occupied by John Moen and Son on the banks of O’Neill Creek. 
 

She attended the Neillsville public schools and following her graduation from high school she taught school in several rural schools of the county.  She was then employed by the Crothers Printing Co.; who published the old Republican Press.  Upon her completion of work at the printing office Mrs. Thoma worked briefly as a telephone operator before she began work in the J. G. Zimmerman department store, now the Farmers store.  Here she worked for 16 years, being in charge of the notions or variety department. She retired in September, 1937, and since that time has made her home with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Ayers. 
 

Mrs. Thoma’s marriage to William Thoma took place April 28, 1903.   
 

She is survived by three daughters: Mrs. Herbert (Ethel) Garbisch, Eagle River; Mr. Norbert (Marie) Endel, West Allis; Mrs. Claude (Florence) Ayers, Neillsville; two sisters, Mrs. Harry (Anna) Jessup, Los Angeles, Cal., and Mrs. Calla Burley of St. Louis, Mo.; three brothers, Bernard J. Korman, Taylor, Tex.; Henry N. Korman, Longview, Wash.; J. C. Korman, Silver City, Minn.; 11 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. 
 

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Walter, and two brothers, William and Ed Korman. 
 

Mrs. Thoma was a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, the Eastern Star and Royal Neighbors Golden Link No. 78. 
 

Pallbearers were: J. A. Zimmerman, J. B. Nesbitt, Albert Holt, Adolph Unger, A. J. Kleckner and John Rude. 
 

Mrs. Henry Dahnert, Reader for Christian Science service, and Mrs. Iris Randall, W. M. of Eastern Star, Carmi Chapter No. 60, officiated at the rites. 
 

Out of town persons attending the services were: Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Garbisch, son Herman, and daughters, Margaret and Marian, Eagle River; Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Endel, West Allis; Mrs. Cal Burley, St. Louis, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bertz, Loyal; Miss Carol Thompson, Eau Clarie; Sgt. Charlotte Ayers, Baltimore, Md.; Mrs. William Bealer, Mrs. Bertha Meissner, Mr. and Mrs. Norman (balance was cut off.)
