Whitney, Joyce C. (25 JUN 1955)

 

The marriage of George J. Malz (formerly of Rhinelander) and Joyce C. Whitney of Rice Lake, took place at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at Rice Lake on Saturday, June 25th, 1955 at 10:30 a.m. with Monsignor Miller of Rice Lake performing the double ring ceremony.  The church was decorated with mixed bouquets of summer flowers in pastel shades for the occasion.

 

The bride, given in marriage by her father, Mr. Harry M. Whitney of Rice Lake, was attired in a gown with a bodice of Chantilly lace over white satin with Peter Pan collar, fingertip sleeves, pearl bows adorning the front and it buttoned in back.  The skirt was of tiers of lace tulle and the fingertip veil was topped with a Juliet cap of pleated tulle with appliquéd lace roses with iridescent sequins and seed pearls.  She carried a white orchid attached to her mother’s First communion Prayer book and her rosary was her First Communion rosary.  She place a beautiful bouquet of flowers on the altar of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

 

Mrs. John Kenney, sister of the bride as matron of honor, and the junior bridesmaids (twin Nieces of the bride) Patricia and Kathleen Kenney, all of Shawano, Wis., wore gowns of blue tulle over satin fashioned with bolero jackets with head tiaras of pleated tulle to match their dresses.  They carried colonial bouquets of summer flowers in pastel shades.

 

The groom was attended by Lester M. Byrns of Rhinelander, brother-in-law of the groom, as best man, and serving as ushers were John Kenney, brother-in-law of the bride, and Steve Shebrack, a friend of the groom.

 

A wedding breakfast was served to guests numbering 80 at the Elk’s Club which was tastefully decorated for the occasion and bouquets of summer flowers in pastel shades adorned the tables.

 

The bride’s going away costume was a pink lace dress with hat and other accessories of white.

 

The bride’s mother chose to wear a pink and white tissue gingham dress with white accessories at her daughter’s wedding.

 

The newlyweds took a trip to northern Wisconsin and Minnesota, returning here to be at home on July 1st at Thorp in the Jacques apartment.

 

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry M. Whitney of Rice Lake.  There she attended grade school and high school.  She also attended St. Scholastic College at Duluth, Minn. And was employed as a commercial teacher at the Rhinelander High School.

 

The groom is the son of Mrs. Joseph Malz of Rhinelander.  He attended school there and Business College at Oshkosh and Gregg Shorthand and Court Reporting School at Chicago.  He is now employed in the accounting department of the Thorp Finance Corp. at Thorp.
