Johnson, George A. (18 DEC 1893 - 18 JUL 1955)

 

George A. Johnson, a resident of Stanley, died at Victory Memorial Hospital early Monday morning.

 

Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon at one o’clock at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Stanley, with Rev. F. M. Salverson officiating.  Interment was in the East Side Cemetery.

 

Mr. Johnson was born in Dwight, Ill., Dec. 18, 1893, the son of John O. and Dorothea Johnson.  He moved to the town of Worden (Clark Co., Wis.) with his parents in 1899.  He enlisted in World War I in 1917 and served in France and England.  He was a member of Richard Brown Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2711 of Stanley.

 

Mr. Johnson was married to Bessie Mae Robinson in Stanley in 1926.  They farmed in the town of Worden until 1951, and then moved into the city of Stanley.

 

Surviving ae his wife; one son Marlin of Stanley; a daughter, Doris Mae of Hartford, Ill., three brothers, Ole, Hans and Carl of Stanley, and two sisters, Mrs. Nels Nye and Mrs. Clarence Solie of Stanley.
