Nemitz, Bertha M. (8 September 1864 - 31 January 1956) 
 

Funeral services for Mrs. Henry Nemitz, 91, of 113 19^th Street, Neillsville, were held Saturday, February 4, from St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, of which she was a member.  The body reposed at the Georgas Funeral Home until one o’clock, when it was taken to the church.  Services were conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Alfred Schewe, and burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery. 
 

Mrs. Nemitz was born Bertha M. Nemitz, daughter of August and Anna (Teatz) Nemitz, in Germany on September 8, 1864. There she received her education and at an early age was confirmed in the Lutheran Church, of which she remained a life-long member. 
 

On September 25, 1888, she was married to Henry H. Nemitz, who preceded her in death on January 20, 1955.  In 1893, she came with her husband and two small children, Minna and Anna, to the United States.  They joined relatives who had come earlier to the Neillsville area and bought a farm at Globe.  They continued to farm there until 1920, when they sold the farm and moved to Neillsville, where she has since resided.  Mr. and Mrs. Nemitz observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1938.  In 1954, their children and grandchildren helped them observe their sixty sixth wedding anniversary. 
 

Early in January Mrs. Nemitz went to Gurnee, Ill., to stay for a time with relatives.  There she became ill on January 30 and died on January 31, at the home of her daughter.  
 

Mrs. Nemitz is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Minna) Bardeleben of Neillsville, and Mrs. Herman Riedel (Anna) of Gurnee, 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are two nieces, Mrs. Martha Richter of Chicago, and Mrs. Minnie Fisher of Baraboo.  
 

Pallbearers were nephews of the deceased: Carl Nemitz, August Nemitz, Fred Dux, Otto Dux, Anton Meihack and Arthur Nemitz.  Flower ladies were: Mrs. Louis Nemitz and Miss Carol Peterson, Wilfred Galstad sang, "Asleep in Jesus," accompanied by Victor Lehman at the organ. 
 

Relatives from out of town who were here for the services included: Mrs. Herman Riedel and Miss Delores Riedel of Gurnee, Ill.; Mrs. George Peternel and Miss France Riedel of North Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Marvin Worchel of Lake Villa, Ill.; Mrs. W. F. Plat of Waukegan, Ill.; Mrs. Martha Richter of Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Minnie Fisher of Baraboo; Mr. and Mrs. John Olson of Marshfield; and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Breseman, Mrs. Mythelda Bass, Mr. and Mrs. Leland Bass and son, and Mrs. Mary Garbisch of Granton.   
 

Three grandchildren from away who were unable to be here are Miss Ione Riedel and Mrs. George Ossander of Gurnee and Edward Kalsow of Milwaukee.
