Cattanach, Curtiss (10 October 1900 - 6 February 1956)

When a heart pain seized him Monday morning, Curtis Cattanach, 55, of the Town of Fremont retained consciousness long enough to turn off the ignition of the tractor he was riding before he slumped over the steering wheel, dead.

Mr. Cattanach, who had complained of severe pains in the fleshy part of the upper right leg for several days, took a load of manure into the field to spread.  When he did not return, his wife went out into the field and found him about 11:30 a.m.

A physician called by Sheriff Ray Kutsche and Undersheriff Frank Dobes ascribed the death to a heart attack.

Funeral service will be held this afternoon (Thursday) from the Gilbertson Funeral Home at Granton.  The Rev. Edgar Milleville will officiate and interment will be in the Windfall Cemetery.

Mr. Cattanach was born October 10, 1900, in Marshfield.  He attended schools at Granton and Neillsville, and was a graduate of Marshfield High School.  His marriage to Clara Marg of Granton took place November 26, 1921.  He resided on his present farm, near Granton for the past 21 years.

Surviving are his wife and two sons, Warren of Wisconsin Rapids and Eugene of Menomonee Falls; two grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Rex (Joyce) Knapton of New Meadows, Id., and a brother, Willard of Mt. Clemens, Mich.
