Reit, Ibo (7 NOV 1888 - 27 JUL 1955)
Ibo Reit, a pioneer resident of Stanley, passed away suddenly at noon, Wednesday, July 27, 1955 at his home in Stanley.
Reit was born in Neuwburta, Holland on Nov. 7, 1888, and came to the U.S. with his parents when he was 12 years old. They resided in Iowa until 1914 and then moved to the Town of Edson near Stanley.
Reit entered service in July 1918, and served with the A.E.F. in France until April 1919. He was discharge from service in May 1919.
In 1922 he was married to the former Lillian Latch in the parsonage at the Maple Grove Church. The couple resided on their farm in the South Side settlement until moving to Stanley in 1945.
He was a member of the Church of the Brethren and the American Legion. Reit is survived by his wife, two sosn, Dale of Chicago, and Don of Stanley; one daughter, Mrs. Lawrence (Alma) Fritzel of Stanley; two brothers, John and Harm of Stanley; and five sisters, Mrs. Isaac (Reatta) Guyette of Thorp; Mrs. Leon (Fannie) Robinson of Freeport, Ill., Mrs. Edgar (Suzie) Norman of Winona, Minn.; Mrs. Ora Bratton of Laverne, Calif., and Mrs. Anna Krall of Freeport, Ill.
Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Church of the Brethren with Rev. Ernest Detrick officiating.
Interment took place in the Edson Union Cemetery.
