Possley, Hilda (17 SEP 1888 - 13 AUG 1955)

Mrs. Nick Possley, age 66, formerly of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), was killed instantly Saturday night, Aug. 13th, 1955, at about 9 p.m. in an automobile accident.

Mrs. Possley was driving with her husband and daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Smigaj, and an unidentified girl, all of Macomb, Ill.

They had left Evie, Ill., following a wedding celebration and were on their way home.  Coming to an intersection where two large highways cross in Monmouth, Ill., another car, carrying 5 Mexicans, went through the stop light and hit the Possley car broadside, apparently.  The Possleys were heading south and the other car was coming from the west.

The other passengers of the Possley car are in a hospital in Monmouth.  The seriousness of injuries is not known.

Two of the passengers of the other car are in a critical condition at the Monmouth Hospital.

The Possleys moved to Illinois about 15 years ago.  They owned and operated the Thorp Dairy milk plant and cheese factory here for a number of years and the business was purchased by the Blue Moon Foods at the time of their removal.

Services for Mrs. Possley were held at a Sheboygan Catholic Church at 9 o’clock Wednesday morning.
