Edward Bradford Woodworth’s life ended on January 3, 2010, at the age of 88.  "Woody" was born February 3, 1921, in Little Falls, Morrison Co., Minnesota to Grace Marie (Hinckley) and Neil Day Woodworth.  He graduated from Little Falls High School in 1939.  He attended Business College in Minneapolis, 1946-47. 
 

Woody was a disabled veteran of "World War II.  His military career in the Army started in California in 1941, and ended when he was wounded on December 1, 1944, in the Battle of the Huertgen Forest.  He was saved by medics and spent time recovering in an English hospital and then in Galesburg, Illinois.  He received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.   
 

Woody married Ila Venske on May 17, 1947 in Randall, MN.  They moved to Thorp, Wisconsin in 1947 where he worked for the Royal Oil Company until 1970.  He was then employed as an accountant for the ITT Thorp Finance Corp. and retired in 1980.  Woody was a Mason (York-Rite and Tripoli and Zor Shrine), a member of the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, VFW, Thorp Lions Club, Thorp Moose Club, "Big Chief" Hunting Lodge, and a member of the Thorp City Council as an alderman. 
 

After retirement, Woody and Ila spent summers at their home on Connors Lake in Sawyer Co., Wisconsin an spent winters at their home in Palmetto, Florida.  In 1995, they moved to Prairie du Sac. 
 

Woody loved to play golf.  He had been a member of the Meadow View Country Club in Owen, the Westwood Golf Club in Phillips, and the Lake Wisconsin Country Club in Prairie du Sac. 
 

His wife, Ila, passed away on November 6, 2003.  In addition, he was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, George Woodworth; and a sister, Margaret Sogn.  He is survived by his son, Douglas (Melanie) in Oregon, WI; his daughter, Debra (Gary Nowobielski), in Lodi, WI; and granddaughters, Kristin (Michael) McKee in Cincinnati, Ohio and Elizabeth (Litzy) in Lodi. 
 

Woody had been a member of the Methodist Church in Thorp, the Lutheran Church in Phillips and St. John’s Church in Prairie du Sac. 
 

Per his request, a private family service will be held.  His remains will be interred at the Veteran’s Cemetery, Camp Ripley, Minnesota. 
 

Heartfelt thanks to the staff at Main Street Quarters where Woody resided the last several years and sincere thanks to Hospice and especially Mary Zink.
