Galbreath, Ellen Sarah (24 October 1886 - 24 May 1956) 
 

Mrs. Ellen Sarah Galbreath, nee Wood, 69, died Thursday in Wisconsin Rapids.  Funeral services were conducted Saturday from the Georgas Funeral Home, and burial took place in the Neillsville City Cemetery.  The Rev. Virgil Holmes, pastor of the Methodist Church officiated. 
 

Mrs. Galbreath was born October 24, 1886, in Clark County and had been a lifelong resident of the county. She was married in July, 1906, in Neillsville to John Galbreath. Following their marriage they farmed in the Shortville community until his death.  For six years following Mrs. Galbreath resided in Neillsville, and after that she made her home with her children.  She lived the past year in Wisconsin Rapids and had been in failing health for some time.  She had entered the hospital earlier the day of her death. 
 

She is survived by the following children: Mrs. Walter (Mildred) Marty, Whitewater; Mrs. Arthur (Eda) Opelt, Neillsville, Mrs. Vera Bowen, Vernon Galbreath, Wisconsin Rapids; Mrs. George (Genevieve) Hohmann, Milwaukee; Earl Galbreath, Wisconsin Rapids; Bobbie Galbreath, Sharon; Mr. Arthur (Opal) Bardeleben, Beloit; Burl Galbreath, Rockford, Ill.; also 25 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, and a brother, David (Jimmy) Wood, of Owen. 
 

Pallbearers were: Robert Volz, Arthur Odell, Frank Short, Oliver Williams, Richard Qualley and Elmer Kapfer. 
 

Mrs. Virgil Holmes sang two selections, "Rock of Ages" and "Beyond the Sunset." 
 

People from out of town attending were: Mr. and Mrs. Walter Marty and family, Whitewater; David Wood, Owen; Floyd Opelt, Mr. and Mrs. R. Ebert, Madison; Mrs. Vera Bowen and family, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Galbreath and family and Howard Bowen, all of Wisconsin Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Bobbie Galbreath and family, Sharon; Mr. and Mrs. Burl Galbreath, Rockford, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. George Hohmann and family, Mrs. Leona Daveni, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Braun, all of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Chris Feutz, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Schultz, Granton; Mrs. James Barth and Mrs. George Carstensen and daughters, Mrs. Marie Schneider and son, all of Marshfield; Mrs. Myrtle Chapel, Granton; and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Volz, Wisconsin Rapids.
