Grether, Mrs. Anna Marie (Marriage - 15
June 1956)
The Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church
was the scene of an impressive wedding service Friday, June 15, at
4 p.m. At that time Mrs. Anna Marie Grether, housemother at
the Winnebago Indian School, and the Rev. George Grether, retired
pastor of Montclair, N. J., were united in marriage.
Officiating was the Rev. Jacob Grether,
son of the bride. He was assisted by the Rev. Albert
Guthmiller, pastor of the church.
Preceding the marriage ceremony Mrs.
Jacob Grether provided organ music and she played the traditional
wedding march for the entrance of the bridal party, as well as the
recessional at the close of the service.
David Stucki, nephew of the bride, sang a
vocal solo, "O Perfect Love." Mrs. Albert Gress and Mrs.
Chester Ploeger, daughters of the bride, sang, "The Lord’s
Prayer."
The bride was escorted to the altar by
her brother, Henry Stucki. Her attendants were the Rev. and
Mrs. Benjamin Stucki. Flower girls were two of the
bride’s granddaughters, Misses Jean Gress and Joann
Grether.
Following the service a reception was
held at the Winnebago Indian School.
Out of town guests included Mr. and Mrs.
William Stucki and son of Madison; Mrs. Albert Gress and daughter,
Jean, Dayton, O.; Mrs. Chester Ploeger, Garner, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs.
Frank Grether and children, St. Cloud, Minn.
Following a short trip to Colorado the couple plans to spend several months in New Hampshire.
