Cook, Walter E. #4 (21 DEC 1888 - 12 OCT 1955)
Funeral services for Assemblyman Walter E. Cook, 66, Unity (Clark Co., Wis.), who died Wednesday night, Oct. 12th, 1955, at the Methodist Hospital in Madison where he underwent surgery on Monday, were held at the Unity Methodist Church at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon, with the Rev. Harvey E. Schall officiating. Interment was made in the Unity Cemetery.
A lifelong resident of Unity, Assemblyman Cook was serving his sixth term in office. Her served three successive terms in the Assembly (1939 - 1945) and was re-elected in 1950, ’52 and ’54.
He was chairman of the Assembly’s Labor Committee and a member of its Agriculture Committee.
He was a former council member and school treasurer at Unity and was affiliated with the Unity Methodist Church.
Mr. Cook was born on a farm near Unity Dec. 21, 1888. He received his education in village schools and owned and operated a farm for 17 years. He was a farm and livestock auctioneer for 28 years, and also dealt in real estate.
Surviving Mr. Cook are his wife, twin daughters, Harriet, at home; Mrs. John (Dorothy) Crornie, Seattle, Wash.; one grandchild; two brothers, George F. cook, Unity, …. (the rest of my copy was cut off)
