Miller, Barbara (Marriage - 23 June
1956)
In a wedding service conducted Saturday
afternoon at 3 p.m. at the Neillsville Methodist Church, Miss
Barbara Miller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Miller of
Neillsville, Rt. 3, became the bride of Walter Oldham. The
groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Oldham, also of
Neillsville Rt. 3.
The Rev. Virgil Holmes, pastor of the
church, performed the double ring ceremony before an altar banked
with baskets of gladioli.
The bride, given in marriage by her
father, wore a floor-length dress of nylon over satin, with lace
panels inserted at the sides of the gown. A scalloped
neckline highlighted the fitted bodice as did the lace sleeves that
came to a point and fastened at the wrist. Her finger-tip
veil was secured to a pearl tiara headpiece. Her bouquet
consisted of red roses, surrounded by white carnations.
Miss Delores Miller, sister of the bride,
was maid of honor. Another sister, Miss Patricia Miller,
acted as bridesmaid. They wore dresses of pink and green and
each carried a bouquet of pink carnations. The groom’s
attendants were John Genteman and Duane Miller. Ushers were
Gordon Oldham and Albert Miller.
Kay Overman presided at the organ and
Gavin Upton sang "The Lord’s Prayer" and "Because."
A reception for 60 guests was held in the
church parlors.
The bride is a graduate of the Neillsville High School with the class of 1955 and for the past year has been employed at the First National Bank at Neillsville.
