Thomas Riphenburg, 54, of Thorp, formerly of Neillsville, died Monday, Jan. 11, 2010, at Our Lady of Victory Hospital in Stanley.

Thomas James Riphenburg was born Sept. 6, 1955, in Neillsville, the son of Nathan Leroy and Ethel Marie (Gillard) Riphenburg.  He attended school in Neillsville and began working at the Neillsville Foundry at a very early age.  When the foundry closed its doors, Tom had worked there for over 32 years.  He then went to work for the Wisconsin Bench Company in Thorp and had been working there for 14 years at the time of his death.

Tom was an avid hunter and fisherman, and if he couldn’t go out to do one of those he would watch it on TV.  He was a Trophy Member, the highest membership possible, of the North American Hunters Association.

He is survived by his significant other, Pat; his children, Antonia (J.T.) Pieters of Eau Claire, Joseph Paine of Oconomowoc and Myah Paine of Thorp; three grandchildren, Jasmine, Arianna and Levi.  He is also survived by seven siblings, Nathan Jr. (Mary Lou) Riphenburg of Sussex, Judy (Victor) Moser of Neillsville, Addie (Arthur) Leake of Neillsville, Sharon (Gary) Fisher of Freeport, IL, Mae (Ron) Mazola of Green Bay, and Terry Riphenburg and Darrell Riphenburg, both of Willard.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services for Tom will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville.  Pastor Douglas Bjerke will officiate.  Interment will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Gesche Funeral Home.
