Meier, Betty (Marriage - 28 July 1956)

The Rev. Alfred Schewe, pastor of St. John’s Lutheran Church, preformed the double ring ceremony Saturday afternoon which united in marriage Miss Betty Meier and Frederick Dux, both of the Neillsville community.  The ceremony took place on the lawn of the bride’s parents’ farm home.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Meier of Rt. 1 and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Dux of Rt. 2, all of Neillsville.

The bride was attired in a gown of nylon net over taffeta with a tight fitting lace bodice.  The long lace sleeves came to a point at the wrists.  The lace of the bodice formed points in the skirt and the floor length skirt was very full with three tiers of lace over nylon and taffeta.  Her finger-tip veil was secured to a crown of seed pearls and sequins.  She carried a white orchid surrounded by baby red roses in the shape of a fan.  Lace formed the background for the flowers.

She was attended by Mrs. Arthur Meier, Jr., as matron of honor and by Miss Elaine Strangfeld as bridesmaid.

Arthur Meier, Jr., attended the groom as best man and groomsman was Robert Quast.

One hundred guests attended the reception held at the V. F. W. Hall at 4 o’clock.  The hall was decorated with streamers of white, shrimp and aqua and white wedding bells.

Upon their return from a short wedding trip to southern Wisconsin they will be at home on Emery Street, in Neillsville.

The bride is a graduate of the Neillsville High School and the groom is employed at the Nelson Muffler plant in Neillsville.
