Hoard, Sally Ann (Marriage - 11 August
1956)
A wedding of interest to many Neillsville
folks was that of Miss Sally Ann Hoard, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Minot J. Hoard of Mosinee, and Gene Einar Staffen, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Einar Staffen of Eagle River, on Saturday, August 11.
Both are instructors in the Neillsville High School, and after
August 29 they will reside at 125 East Ninth Street, Neillsville.
The marriage ceremony was preformed by
the Rev. Mr. DeSelms, pastor of the Community Methodist Church of
Mosinee.
Mrs. DeSelms presided at the organ, while
Howard Heimke, a cousin of the groom, offered two solos "Because,"
and "the Lord’s Prayer."
Fine silk embroidered white tulle over
satin was used to fashion the bride’s floor length
gown. A molded bodice designed with a split V neckline which
was banded with white satin edged the mandarin neckline of the
dress. The full balloon sleeves were fastened just below the
elbow with tulle covered buttons, which also were used to close the
back of the bodice. The bouffant skirt, fully shirred at the
waistline, fell to the floor over several underskirts of plain
tulle lined with satin. Pearls, in the shape of a cross, were
attached to the lace cap which held her imported French silk
illusion veil. She carried a semi-colonial bouquet of white
roses and stephanotis.
Miss Molly Swanson of Mosinee, who
attended school with the bride from kindergarten through college,
was her maid of honor. She was assisted by Miss Jean Hoard, a
cousin, and Miss Lois Feggestad of Stoughton, a fellow teacher of
the bride, as her bridesmaids.
Howard Bowker of Eagle River was bestman
and Dallas Middlecoff of Chicago and Norman Numerich of Milwaukee
were groomsmen. Ushering the guests at the church were James
Hoard, a brother of the bride, and Richard Guth of Eagle River, a
friend.
The newly married couple greeted guests from 3 to 5 p.m. during a reception held at the Hotel Wausau.
