13 September 1956)
William Harrison White, 76, of 401 E.
5th Street, Neillsville, died last Thursday afternoon at
the Clark County Hospital at Owen, where he had been a patient for
several months.
Funeral services were conducted Monday
from the Georgas Funeral Home. The Rev. Virgil Holmes, pastor
of the Methodist Church, officiated and interment was in the
Neillsville City Cemetery.
Mr. White was born March 14, 1880, in the
Town of Pine Valley, to the late William D. and Elizabeth (Pitcher)
White. He received his education in the rural schools of
Clark County. He worked on the home farm and also in the
city. He learned the barber trade and became a master barber,
following this trade until 1937, when he retired due to failing
health.
His marriage to Marie Luchterhand took
place July 28, 1908, at Neillsville. She died April 2,
1952.
Mr. White was a member of Neillsville
Lodge, No. 198, I. O. O. F.
Surviving are two sons, Glen of
Neillsville and Francis of Milwaukee, nine grandchildren, and a
half-brother, Knute Jenkins of Neillsville.
Pallbearers were: Robert Frantz, Arthur
Carl, Fred Subke, Elmer Keller, N. F. Toptine and Oliver
Williams.
Mrs. Rose Milton, Mrs. Arnold Yankee and
Mrs. Henry Wittke were in charge of flowers. Two selections
were sung by Mrs. Virgil Holmes.
Out of town relatives attending were: Mr. and Mrs. Francis White and daughter, Pat, of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Harold York and family and Mrs. Minnie White, Jefferson.

Clarence Harrison White
Nov. 29, 1908 - March 30, 1956
the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. White of Neillsville. He grew to manhood here, completed two years of high school and has since worked with his father at the barber trade. His wife to be, Albertine Marie Barton, graduated from Neillsville high school in 1928 and the next year from the teachers training department. When the 1930 Federal Census was taken, he was 21 yrs. old. The Great Depression had hit. Albertine was 19 and lived with her parents in Weston Twp., Clark Co., Wisconsin where she taught at the Weston rural school. Clarence was a boarder at the Arthur Barton residence where he helped with the farm work. Despite the onset of the "Great Depression, he and Albertine Barton were married Nov. 25, 1931. By the time the 1940 Federal Census was taken, they were living in Superior, Douglas Co., Wisconsin and 32 yr. old Clarence was employed as a salesman (cash wagon, tobbacco and sundry). Albertine was twenty-nine and teaching in the Superior City School System. In 1952, when his mother passed away, Clarence was living in Ashland, N. H where he was a foreman in the card room of a woolen mill. March 30, 1956 at 2:30 pm while rain and melting snow fell on the busy streets outside Memorial Hospital, his script for this life came to an end. He was forty-seven years old. He died of Pulmonary Fibrosis which had plagued him for 2yrs. and was complicated with a ten year battle with asthma. His death certificate was signed by Dr. Lawrence Lockwood who had watched over him for his last four days of life.
