Word has been received here of the death
September 13 in Chicago of Nathaniel J. Machel, 59, a native of the
Town of Washburn. He suffered a heart attack as he began his
daily work for Western Electric Company, by whom he has been
employed for 18 years.
Born on a farm in the Town of Washburn on
January 12, 1897, Mr. Machel resided there until 1916, when he
moved to Chicago. Shortly thereafter he joined the army and
served during World War I and was with the army of occupation until
it was withdrawn.
He was married November 29, 1922, to
Adeline Krause in Chicago. One daughter was born to
them. Surviving besides his widow and daughter are three
sisters and three brothers: Amelia McCarthy, Lydia Drescher,
Amanda, Albert, Robert and William.
Mr. Machel was a member of the Lutheran church, from which funeral services were conducted. Burial was made in Ridgewood Cemetery.
