Hart, Velma Ione (5 February 1917 - 1 October 1956) 
 

Funeral services for Mr. and Mrs. Beryl E. Hart, victims of a train-car crash last week, were held in Neillsville Saturday morning. 
 

The Harts former Neillsville residents, who had been living on a farm between Thorp and Stanley, were killed instantly when their car crashed into the side of a Northwestern freight train on a country road crossing two miles south of Fairchild.  Their son Leon, 10, escaped injury. 
 

The services were arranged by the Bergemann Funeral Home.  The Rev. Mr. Engel of Medford officiated at the double services, and burial was made in the Medford Cemetery. 
 

Beryl Eugene Hart, son of George H. and Idella (Sweetland) Hart, was born April 15, 1912, in the Town of Pine Valley.  He grew to manhood in this community and in April 1956, moved onto a farm near Thorp.  He was married July 11, 1934, to Velma Ehlert of Globe. 
 

Velma Ione Ehlert, daughter of Arthur and Gertrude (Gadoff) Ehlert, was born February 5, 1917, in the Town of Hewett.  She also made this community her home until the family moved to Thorp. 
 

They are survived by the following children: A/2c Chester Hart of Larson Air Force Base, Washington; Pfc. Beryl Hart , Jr., of Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.; PE 2 Bradley Hart of Fort Bliss, Tex.; PE 2 Marvin Hart, with the army in Germany; Berdine, Harold and Leon Hart, all of Thorp. 
 

Mr. Hart is survived by his mother, Mrs. Idella Hart of North Hollywood, Cal., and the following brothers and sisters: George Hart, Dallas, Tex.; Gerald Hart, Heber Springs, Ark.; Mrs. William (Ruby) Kuehn, North Hollywood, Cal.; and Bert Hart, Pacoima, Cal. 
 

Mrs. Hart is survived by her father, Arthur Ehlert of Medford, and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Louis (Verna) Hoech, and George Ehlert, Medford; Mrs. Bill (Lorraine) Kelling, Highland Park, Ill.; Howard Ehlert, Mrs. John (Eleanor) Kulsa, Robert Ehlert, all of Thorp; Mrs. Joseph (Arlene) Zwijacz, Medford; and Mrs. Joe (Marie) Kulsa, Thorp. 
 

During the services, Wilfred Galstad, accompanied by Jane Dundas at the piano, sang two selections. 
 

Pallbearers at Neillsville were: Alvin Durham, Jerry and Lloyd Klatt, Marvin Malcohm, George Richards and Wesley Washburn. 
 

Pallbearers at Medford were: Lawrence Clausen, Ervin Draeger, Bennie and Lloyd Endru, Charles Johnson and Stanley Kaszubowski; Alvin Knobe, Robert Ness, John Penk, Bernard Ekaleski, Dale Dray and Joe Wincek.
