Pettit, Jean Maureen (Marriage - 20 October 1956)

The Rev. Fr. Peter J. Leketas, pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, officiated at the 9 a.m. wedding Saturday of Jean Maureen Pettit, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Norbert J. Pettit of Neillsville, and Wayne E. Meier, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Meier, also of Neillsville.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor length gown with Chantilly lace and nylon tulle over taffeta.  The fitted bodice with a Peter Pan collar was fashioned with fitted sleeves that extended to a point over the hand.  The bouffant skirt of lace came to points revealing a nylon tulle flounced underskirt.

Her finger-tip veil of illusion lace, edged in matching lace, was secured to a cap edged with seed pearls. She carried a lace covered prayer book with a white orchid on the top. White ribbons and stephanotis completed her bouquet.

Miss Mary Aumann attended the bride as maid of honor.  Her bridesmaid was Miss Jeanette Hoeser.

The groom was attended by James Pettit and Francis Langreck.

A reception for 125 guests was held at the American Legion Hall, which was decorated in red and white streamers and flowers.

The bride and groom are both graduates of the Neillsville High School.  She is employed as a waitress at the Arbutus Café and the groom is employed at the Rollohome in Marshfield.

A wedding trip is planned for later in the fall.
