Davis, William A. (23 March 1884 - 10
October 1956)
William A. Davis, 72, of Waukegan, Ill.,
died in Neillsville Monday after suffering a heart attack. He
had been spending the past week with the Billy Davis, Albert
Schoengarth and Mrs. John Davis families, coming here for the
funeral of Ronald Davis.
The body reposed at the Georgas Funeral
Home from Tuesday evening until Wednesday at 7 o’clock when
it was taken to Waukegan for services on Saturday. Christian
Science services were conducted, and burial was in Memories
Cemetery, Waukegan.
Mr. Davis was a retired Northwestern
Railway employee. He worked for the railroad for 46 years,
retiring after his wife’s death about seven years ago.
He spent the winters in Florida and visited among relatives during
the summer.
He was born March 23, 1884, at El Dorado
(Fond du Lac County). He was the son of the late David
and Ellen (Morris) Davis. His marriage to Mamie Cleary took
place in Chicago. She preceded him in death in November,
1949.
He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Archie (Effie) Garvin of Montello, and Mrs. Ella Cronk of Sacramento, Cal.
