Cerne, Joseph (9 March 1904 - 8 November 1956) 
 

Funeral Services for Joseph Cerne, 52, of Willard, were held Monday afternoon at the Stabenow Funeral Home in Greenwood.  The Rev. Charles Koch, pastor of the Zion and West Side Evangelical and Reformed churches officiated. Burial was made in the Riverside cemetery at Withee. 
 

Pallbearers were: Henry Keiner, Matt Malnar, Frank Luzovic, Louis Silc, Tom Krejci of Willard and Jake Barr.  Miss Nettie Miller accompanied by Mrs. Daniel Olson sang. 
 

Mr. Cerne operator of the Rock Dam Resort, died Thursday at Victory Memorial Hospital in Stanley after an extended illness.  He was born in Yugoslavia March 9, 1904, and came to Willard with his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Mike Cerne, 36 years ago.  He was employed in Chicago for a time and in 1946 purchased the Rock Dam Resort, where he had since resided.  He was married to Delia Bestel at Neillsville December 20, 1953. 
 

Besides his wife he is survived by three sisters and two brothers, Mrs. George (Tillie) Podrovitz and Mrs. Louis (Christina) Fortuna, both of Willard; Mrs. Joseph (Steffie) Cohara of Denver, Colo.; Frank of Chicago; and Mike who operates the home farm in Willard.
