Haines, Lloyd (1956)
Lloyd Haines, 13-year-old son of Mr. and
Mrs. Francis Haines of the Town of Grant was returned home last
Saturday from Memorial Hospital in Neillsville, where he was taken
after a serious encounter with a corn picker.
In some unknown manner Lloyd’s
right hand and arm were pulled into the picker Saturday, November
10. Mr. Haines who was driving the tractor, stopped
immediately.
Lloyd an eight grade student at the Wild
Rose School has his hand and arm in a cast that goes up to his
shoulder. He has lost the index finger. Two other
fingers, the wrist and arm, both above and below the elbow,
sustained fractures. However, it was believed that the use of
the arm and hand has been saved.
Although he is attending a rural school, Lloyd was learning to play a clarinet and played with the Neillsville public school’s junior band in a concert, November 6.
