Frantz, Elizabeth (15 September 1877 - 22
November 1956)
Death came early last Thursday morning to
Mrs. Rudolph Frantz, 79, at her home at 110 Hewett St.
Neillsville.
Funeral services were held Monday from
the Georgas Funeral Home. The Virgil Holmes, pastor of the
Methodist Church, officiated, and interment took place in the
Neillsville City Cemetery.
Mrs. Frantz, who was the daughter of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Frederich Hohenstein, was born September 15,
1877, in Germany. She came to the United States with her parents
when she was five years old. The family located in Illinois, where
she received her education. She learned the millinery trade and
followed it there until her parents moved to Clark County in
1893.
She was married March 20, 1897, to Carl
(Rudolph) Frantz at Shortville. Following their marriage they
farmed in the Town of Washburn until 1917, when they moved to
Neillsville. She had been in failing health for the past several
years; but it was only a week ago that she became seriously
ill.
Mrs. Frantz is survived by her husband an
a son, Elmer Frantz of Neillsville; two daughters, Mrs. Cecil
(Clara) McLyman of Duluth, Minn. and Mrs. Paul (Ruby) Volkmann of
Neillsville; two sisters, Mrs. Charles (Anna) Franklin, Phoenix,
Ariz., and Mrs. Henry (Irene) Wallace, Granton; two brothers, Fred
Hohenstein, Hubbard, Minn., and Pete Hohenstein of Hayward. A
grandchild and two great-grandchildren also survive.
Pallbearers were: Ralph and Frank Short,
Jess and Arthur Wilding, Tom Winters and George Allbaugh.
Members of the W. R. C. and Diamond
Rebekah Lodge No. 64, of which she was a member, attended the
services in a body.
Out of town relatives attending were: Mr. and Mrs. Cecil McLyman and Mrs. Roy Berg, Duluth, Minn.; Miss Myrtle Volkmann, Mrs. George Hanson, Mrs. Raymond Hesse, all of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Zimmerman and Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Wallace, Humbird.
