Garman, Dr. Frank (20 August 1863 - 20
December 1956)
Funeral services were held Sunday
afternoon from the Georgas Funeral Home for Dr. Frank M. Garman,
93, who died Thursday at his home at 208 E. 5th Street,
Neillsville. The Rev. Henry Reigel of Owen officiated.
Burial as made in the East Lawn Cemetery
at Alma Center.
Mr. Garman was born August 20, 1863, at
Glen Bourne, Me. He was the son of the late John and Samantha
(Smith) Garman. His parents move to Jackson County when Dr.
Garman was a small boy. He received his education in the Jackson
County schools and as a young man worked on farms.
For many summers he traveled the west,
and after settling down he operated a jewelry store and became an
acting optometrist in Alma Center. The Garman family moved to
Neillsville in 1927. He continued to practice optometry until
his health began to fail, and in 1952 he retired.
His marriage to Nellie Blencoe took place
May 27, 1902, at Alma Center.
Mr. Garman is survived by his wife and an
adopted sister, Mrs. Ella Ketchum of San Bruno, Cal.
Pallbearers were: Albert Smith, Otto Dux,
David Parry, Otto Catlin, Ben Dux and Jacob Hoesly.
Mrs. Arvi Finnila and Mrs. William Potter
of Owen sang several selections, accompanied at the organ by Mrs.
Henry Reigel of Owen.
Out of town people attending were: Mr. and Mrs. Walter Blencoe, Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Nelson, Mrs. Alfred Blencoe, Everett Blencoe, all of Black River Falls; Mrs. Ethel Osborn, Mr. and Mrs. High Glendenning and Betty, Augusta; Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Blencoe, Nola, Becky and Roger Blencoe and Mrs. Jessie Dienor, Sechlerville; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Fulmore, Athens; Sidney Davis, Mrs. Maggie Davis, Merrillan; Mrs. Nathan Merrill, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Duxbury and Olive Blencoe, Alma Center.
