Strade, Fred (Suicide - 18 Feb
1912)
The sad news that Fred Strade, one of the prominent and well to do farmers of the town of Colby, had taken his own life, reached this city, last Sunday forenoon, and cast a gloom over all who were personally acquainted with him. It seems that the family were about ready for church and Mr. Strade went to the barn to hitch up the team, but not returning promptly, they went to the barn and found him, with a noose around his neck, hanging from the hook used to hang the harness on, his feet drawn up so as not to touch the floor, but life was extinct. No cause is known for his rash act. Fred Strade was of pleasant disposition, always a jolly fellow to meet, and when in the city Wednesday of last week, one would think him the last man that would resort to such a deed. - Colby Phonograph
