Servaty, Catherine (31 Oct 1827 - 9 Mar
1912)
Mrs. Catherine Servaty died last Saturday
at her home on the north side, aged 84 years, 4 months and 9
days. She was born Catherine Thill in Steinbach Province of
Alsaace Lorraine, of French parentage, on Oct. 31, 1827. She
was united in marriage to John Servaty at Elgin, Ill., on July 10,
1852. In 1855 they moved to Belvidere, Ill., and later they
moved to Neillsville in July 1883. Mrs. Servaty is survived
by three daughters and two sons, namely: Mrs. Madeline Mick, Miss
Katie and Miss Julie and Charles of Fresno, Cal., and John J. of
Owen. She is also survived by one brother, Jos. Thill of
Augusta, Okla. The late Mrs. W.G. Klopf was also a daughter
of Mrs. Servaty.
Mrs. Servaty was a woman of exceptional merit, and womanly characteristics. During her residence in this city she became known for the kindly and charitable deeds that she performed and the ready services she rendered in times of need. Her refinement and quiet demeanor won her a large circle of friends in this city who sincerely mourn her demise. Deceased was buried Tuesday afternoon in the Neillsville cemetery, Rev. Nye conducting the services. Carl Mick of Ottawa, Ill., Mrs. Madeline Mick of Chicago and Jos. Steihl and wife of Merridian, Claire Servaty of Owen and Emil Mick of Black River Falls were here to attend the funeral.
