Pearl Lucille Elmhorst, 87, Neillsville, died on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, at Memorial Medical & Rehab, Neillsville. Visitation will be held on Saturday, Jan. 23, at Zion Lutheran Church, Granton, from 10 a.m. until the time of memorial services at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pearl Lucille Vandeberg was born on July 14, 1922, in Neillsville, to William and Jesse (nee Brown) Vandeberg. She married Robert Elmhorst on Sept. 20, 1941. She loved gardening, had the largest garden in town and was admired for her gladiolas. She enjoyed crocheting, and crocheted the Lord’s Prayer for Zion Lutheran Church. She participated in a card club on Fridays and enjoyed playing sheepshead. She was a great cook (her potato salad was loved by everyone) and baker. She also loved fishing. Her husband, Robert, would row the boat while she fished.
Survivors include her sons, Victor (Sarah) Elmhorst, Granton, Donald (Bonnie) Elmhorst, Neillsville, and Rocky (Jeanette) Elmhorst, Dewey, Ariz.; daughters, Alaine Degner, Eau Claire, and Sandra (Steve) Oldham,Neillsville; 14 grandchildren, Wayne, Randy, Gary, Rodney, Brian, Jeff, Mark, Amy, Angela, April, Kayla, Courtney, Rhonda and Jacki; 14 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at Ministry Home Care Hospice, Neillsville, for the compassionate way they cared for her.
Cremation Society of Wisconsin in Altoona is serving the family.
