Neisius, Laverne Leo (9 November 1923 - 18 January 2009) 
 

Laverne L. Neisius, age 86, of Thorp, passed away on Monday, January 18, 2010 at the Clark County Health Care Center in Owen. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 22, 2010 at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp.  Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Town of Edson, rural Boyd.   
 

Visitation will be held at the Thorp Funeral Home on Thursday, January 21, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a 6:00 p.m. rosary.  Visitation will also be held on Friday, January 22, 2010 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the church. 
 

Thorp Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Laverne L. Neisius, age 86, of Thorp, passed away on Monday, January 18, 2010, at Clark County Health Care Center in Owen. 
 

Funeral services were held on Friday, January 22, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp.  Rev. Keith Apfelbeck officiated and burial followed in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in the Town of Edson, rural Chippewa Co. WI.  
 

Pallbearers were: Sebastian, John, Joe, Dan, Matt, and Richard Neisius. 
 

Laverne Leo Neisius was born on November 9, 1923, in the Town of Edson, rural Chippewa Co., to John and Juliana (Brunner) Neisius, and attended area schools.  After completing his education, Laverne returned to the family farm.  He then married Hattie Pietrzak. They farmed in the Town of Reseburg, and raised their 14 children.  After retiring from farming, Laverne continued to live on the farm until entering the Clark County Health Care Center in Owen in 2004, where he resided until his death.  
 

In Laverne’s spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing, and watching the Packers and Brewers play ball.  Over the years, Laverne served on the Thorp School Board, the Milk Marketing Co-op Board, and the Farmers Union Board of Directors.  He was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church, where he served as an usher for many years, and its Holy Name Society.   
 

He is survived by his children: John (Connie) Neisius of Plymouth, WI, Mary (Dave) Hegre of River Falls, WI, Kathy Neisius-Bote, of Maple Valley, WA, Patricia Neisius of Medford, WI, David Neisius of Owen, WI, Diane Neisius of River Falls, WI, Richard Neisius of Amery, WI, Sue (Ted) Neisius-Huppert of Prescott, WI, Daniel (Bobbie) Neisius of Thorp, WI, Joe (Sarah) Neisius of Thorp, WI, Paul Neisius of Marshfield, WI, Carolle Neisius of Inver Grove Heights, MN, and Michael Neisius of Menomonie, WI.  He is further survived by 27 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one sister, Juliana Garofalo of New York; one brother, Jerome (Beverly) Neisius of Thorp, WI; nieces, nephews and many friends. 
 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Gerald Neisius; and two sisters: Martha Wenzel and Pauline Roman.
