Schimke, John Milo (8 September 1935 - 21
January 2009)
John Milo Schimke, age 74, of Lublin, WI,
passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side on
Thursday, January 21, 2010. A Christian burial Mass was held
at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 25, 2010, at St. Stanislaus
Catholic Church, Lublin, WI, with Fr. John Long officiating.
Burial followed in the parish cemetery. Friends and family
called on Sunday, January 24, 2010, from 4-8 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m.
rosary being recited at the Gilman Funeral Chapel, Gilman,
WI. Plombon Funeral Service assisted the family with
arrangements.
John was born on September 8, 1935, in
New London, WI, the son of Leonard and Regina (Hurbon)
Schimke. He grew up in the New London area and continued his
education at U-W Platteville, graduating with a degree in Secondary
Education and Industrial Arts in 1958. He was united in
marriage to Ruth Alice Browning on June 14, 1958, at St.
Mary’s Catholic Church, Platteville, WI. They began a family
in Greenfield, WI, later settling at Honey Creek area. He was
employed as a draftsman and as a teacher of Industrial Arts for 27
years for the Milwaukee Public Schools until retirement.
He and his wife moved to Lublin in
1997. John enjoyed the outdoors, woodworking and loved his
family.
John is survived by his wife, Ruth, of
Lublin, WI; children: Michael (Susan) Schimke of Clinton, WI, Mary
(Rick) Jackley of Honey Creek, WI, Michelle (Michael) Daniels of
Stevens Point, WI, Mark Schimke of Thorp, WI, Matthew (Constance)
Schimke of Lublin, WI, Monica (Franklin) Mayer of Rochester, WI,
and Martin (Sarah) Schimke of Red Granite, WI; 16 grandchildren:
Bradley, Amber, Tyler, Johnathon, Aileen, Luke, Joseph, Courtney,
Vincent, Jacquelyn, Jordan, Elizabeth, Hannah, Franklin, Regina
& Augustus; one great-grandson, Trevor; and one sister, Barbara
Schimke of New London, WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Leonard F. Schimke.
