Betty Lenz, 80, of Greenwood, died
Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010, in the Intensive Care Unit of St.
Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.
Betty May Lenz was born July 16,
1929. She attended school in Greenwood and graduated from
Greenwood High School in 1947. She was united in marriage to
Wilbur Lenz in 1950. While Wilbur worked for the Clark County
Highway Department, Betty farmed at their home in Weston Township.
She retired from farming in 1975 and then began working for the
Nelson Filter Company in Neillsville. She worked there for three
years and then went to work at Weyerhaeuser in Marshfield.
She worked at Weyerhaeuser until 1994 when at the age of 64, she
retired.
Betty was a member of St. John’s
Evangelical Lutheran Church in Christie. She enjoyed
traveling and helping her son on the family farm.
She is survived by three children, Harold
Lenz of Greenwood, Mary Jane Boardman of Austin, TX, and Evan Lenz
of Greenwood; two grandsons in the U. S. Navy, FC3 Avatar V.
(Maria) Boardman of Norfolk, VA, and MIDN 2/C USNR Herakles A.
Boardman of Daytona Beach, FL.
Betty was preceded in death by her
husband, Wilbur in 1973.
Funeral services for Betty will be held
at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, at the Gesche Funeral Home in
Neillsville. Pastor John Warmuth will officiate.
Interment will be in the Marie Louise Chapel Cemetery in
Christie. Visitation was from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday at
the Gesche Funeral Home.
Casketbearers are Harold Lenz, Evan Lenz,
Wayne Lenz, Ed Bauer, Erick Bauer and Duane Boon.
