Schultz, Joanne E. (Marriage - 18 May 1957)

Miss Joanne E. Schultz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl H. Schultz, formerly of Neillsville and now living in St. Paul, Minn., and Richard C. Olson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albard Olson of Duluth, Minn., were married in a candlelight service at 7 o’clock in the evening Saturday, May 18.  The service was performed in the Congregational Church at Neillsville.  The pastor, Rev. Frank B. Harcey, performed the double ring ceremony before the altar, which was banked with baskets of white and yellow flowers. The church was decorated with flowers and candelabra.

The bride, who was given in Marriage by her father, wore a gown of nylon Chantilly lace fashioned with a long train.  She wore a fingertip veil of nylon lace and carried a bouquet of lilies of the valley on a white Bible.

Her maid of honor was Miss Shelly Olson of Duluth, sister of the room. Bridesmaids were two of the bride’s former schoolmates, Mrs. Edwin Heuer of Racine and Mrs. Ellis Wall of Neillsville.  Her attendants wore identical dresses of white lace over green taffeta.  They wore green chiffon stoles and carried bouquets of white daisies and yellow roses.

The groom’s best man was a friend, Jerry Walczak. Two friends from Duluth, John Anderson and John Niemi, served as ushers.  Steven Olson, nephew of the groom, was ring bearer. The bride’s cousin, Deborah Bremer, was flower girl.  She wore a floor length dress of white, with touches of green and yellow.

Miss Kay Overman furnished organ music.  She also played the accompaniment for two solos sung by Ellis Wall, "The Lord’s Prayer and "Because".

A reception for 150 guests was held in the church parlors.  Music was furnished by John Thornton on the vibraphones and Gene LaFond on the electric guitar.

The bride is a graduate of the Neillsville High School, Presbyterian Hospital in Chicago, and has done extension work at the University of Minnesota. She is a registered nurse and has recently worked in Duluth.  The groom is a graduate of the University of Minnesota in Duluth and is employed as an accountant. The couple will live in Duluth, where they have a home already prepared.

Here for the wedding from away were: the bride’s parents and her brother, Robert Schultz of St. Paul; the bride’s brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lastofka of Jefferson; and the groom’s parents of Duluth.  Other guests were from Madison, Hersey and Glen wood City, Wis.; Mishawaka, Ind.; Vincennes, Ind.; Tucson, Ariz., and Duluth, Minn.
