Grottke, Janice D. (Marriage - 15 June
1957)
Miss Janice D. Grottke of Rockford, Ill.,
daughter of Mrs. Eva Grottke, of Neillsville, became the bride June
15, of Jerry D. Ehlers, also of Rockford and the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Paul Ehlers of Rt. 1, Neillsville.
The Rev. Alfred Schewe, pastor of St.
John’s Lutheran Church, performed the double ring ceremony
before an altar decorated with a centerpiece of white and yellow
orchids and gladioli. The pews were marked with bows of
yellow and orchid netting.
For her wedding the bride selected a gown
of Chantilly lace over white satin. The full floor length skirt was
fashioned of ruffled nylon tulle over satin. The molded bodice had
a neckline trimmed with scattered iridescent sequins and her
finger-tip veil was fastened to a sequin trimmed cloche.
Her chapel-length train was of satin and
lace. For her bouquet she carried an orchid surrounded by ivy
and stephanotis.
Miss Jean Grottke of Rockford was her cousin’s maid of
honor. Serving as bridesmaids were Gloria Northup, Rhonda
Ehlers and Adelle Ehlers, all of Neillsville.
The groom was attended by Ronnie Meyer as
bestman. Groomsmen were Dennis Bieneck, Roger Grottke and Rodger
Northup. Norman Thompson of Rockford and Merlin Payne of
Wisconsin Rapids were ushers. LaVerne Ehlers was ringbearer,
and Linda Grottke, sister of the bride, was flower girl.
A reception for 150 guests was held at
St. John’s Lutheran School. The young couple will
reside at 3136 Wallin Ave., Rockford, Ill., after their return from
a wedding trip to Northern Michigan.
The bride is a 1955 graduate of
Neillsville High School and was co-salutatorian of the class.
She has been employed as a secretary in Rockford. The groom
also a 1955 graduate of Neillsville High School, is a designer of
special machinery at the Special Machine Company of
Rockford.
Folks from out of town here for the wedding were: Mr. and Mrs. Paul Meyer and sons, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Ehlers and daughters, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Ehlers, Dorchester; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Braatz, Beaver Dam; Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Violand, Dorchester; Mrs. Anna Reidel, Frances and Ione, Gurnee, Ill,; Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Worchel of Lake Villa, Ill,; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Gondek, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. William Grottke, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Schmitz and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Lustig and daughter, all of Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Faune Durni, Platteville.
