Funeral services for Carl G. Moritz were held at the Loyal funeral home Sunday afternoon. The Rev. Lee H. Holmes officiated as pastor.

He was born in Germany on Aug. 16, 1880, and came to the United States at the age of 10 years. He resided in Wayne township, Lafayette county, as a young man and there married Cora Winslow in 1900. Two children were born to this union, Mrs. John (Julia) Lindsay of McHenry, Ill., and Mrs. John (Ruth) Mothershead of Portland, Ore. Mrs. Cora Moritz passed away in June 1906.

In April, 1911, he was married to Anna Christian of Chicago. One son Carl, now of Henry , Ill., was born to them. In 1922 they moved to Clark county. In 1935 Mrs. Anna Morirz passed away, and he retired from farming. He left Loyal and for the past several years has been employed as a gardener and caretaker. He was stricken on Wednesday, Jan. 29, at his place of employment and died at 12:20 a.m. last Friday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lindsay.

Mr. Moritz made a great many friends wherever he went, as his life was patterned after the Golden Rule. He leaves five grandchildren.

Mr. Moritz had been a number of the local society of Free Masons since 1935, and they had charge of funeral services, with Claude Steiner giving the funeral rites. Roy Pengelly served as chaplain. Serving as pallbearers were Jesse Raab, William Trindal, Neil Johnston, Lothar Oestreich, Maynard Erickson and Edgar Vick.

Relatives from away who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. John Lindsay of McHenry and Carl Moritz of Henry.
