Rottjer, William  (31 MAY 1904-03 APR 1947)

 

William Herman Arthur Rottjer, 42, died unexpectedly at his home on Thursday afternoon, Apr. 3, of a heart attack.

 

William Rottjer, the son of the late John and Anna Rottjer, was born on May 31, 1904, at Elkton, Minn. He was baptized and confirmed in St. John’s Lutheran church I Elkton and lived there until 1919, when he came with his parents to Loyal.

 

He was graduated from the Loyal high school in 1925 and attended Marquette university in Milwaukee. He worked for a few years in drug stores at Milwaukee and racine, and in 1933 he returned to Loyal.

 

He was married to Emma Noeldner on May 12, 1937. He is survived by his wife and five children: Margaret Ann 8, Roberta 7, William Jr. 6, John 4, and Barbara Ellen 1. He is also survived by a brother, Henry, of Loyal, and a sister, Mrs. Ervin (Adeline) Macksam, of Beaver Dam.

 

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran church, of which Mr. Rottjer was a member. The Rev. J. C. Langholz officiated.

 

Those who served as pallbearers were Herman Zuege, Albert Witt, Ernest Stayton, Adolph Voight, Frank Degenhardt and Jake Henseler Jr. The flowers were carried by Mrs. Edith Ohlrogge, Mrs. Jake Henseler Jr. Mrs. Herman Zuege, Mrs. Frank Degenhardt and Mrs. Ernest Stayton.

 

The hymns, "Sometime We’ll Understand," "Beautiful Savior," and "I Know That My Redeemer Lives," were sung by Mrs. Romaine Rossow and Margaret Herdrich, with Eunice Langholz as accompanist.

 

Relatives from away who attended the services were Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Macksam and daughter, Jean, and Mr. and Mrs. Emil Winters and son, Harvey, of Beaver Dam; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kraft and Mary Ann Larson of Elkton, Minn.; Herman Neubauer of Columbia, S. D., and Mr. and Mrs. Floyd McCann and daughter, Beverly and Maridene, of Milwaukee.

 

The Tribune extends to the bereaved its sympathy in the loss of a beloved husband and father.
